The Trifectameter® Backstory

It was Monday morning, 9/27/2021, the day after the Milwaukee Brewers clinched the National League Central Division Championship. The prospects of a major sports trifecta in Wisconsin had been steadily growing, ever since the Milwaukee Bucks became NBA Champions on 7/20/2021.

Whatever the chances were for a Wisconsin trifecta, they had to be slightly better than the previous day. But by how much? That is when the Trifectameter® was envisioned.

Because the Bucks won the championship, they would count a full 33-1/3% toward the overall trifecta probability. For the other two teams, betting odds could be used to determine just how much of their respective 33-1/3%s would count. If all three teams were to win a championship, the Trifectameter® would be 100%.

The initial Trifectameter® reading for Wisconsin on 9/30/2021 was 39.477%. That number fluctuated as the Brewers’ and the Green Bay Packers’ seasons progressed, maxing out at 39.601% on 10/4/2021. The 2021 Wisconsin trifecta attempt ended on 10/12/2021 when the Brewers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Atlanta Braves (the eventual World Series Champions).

Even though that particular Wisconsin trifecta attempt ended, the Trifectameter® continues. Tracking the current Trifectameter® readings of the many regions across the USA and Canada is the primary focus of this website. I’ve also applied the Trifectameter® to various historical trifecta attempts.

I hope you enjoy speculating about the Trifectameter® as much as I do!
